Testimonials

Our quality of service is continuously checked through the tourist reports we ask our clients to fill in after every trip. In these reports, all the aspects of our activity are evaluated on an ABCDE basis. This helps us to keep improving our service day by day.

The following testimonials are all original extracts from our tourist reports. They have not been invented, neither are they the result of our imagination to give a misleading image of our service to our website visitors. All these reports are available at our office in Cusco. We have not facilitated the e-mail addresses of neither of our clients for obvious reasons. However, if you wish to contact any of the writers, please let us know and we will let you know their addresses once we get their authorization.

Classic Inca Trail

“This was a lifetime ambition + dream to come to Peru and walk to Machu Picchu.

I would highly recommend ENIGMA and would like to say a very big thank you to Cesar who was excellent. He knew when to help us and how far we could go each day.. You have an excellent guide to represent your company. My husband and I have never in all our travels known such people who work so hard with such a smile on their faces. Your porters are superb. – A big thank you to our cook who made us a cake on our 25th wedding anniversary. His cooking was excellent.”

“I loved my trek and the porters and Cesar my guide.”

"I'm not sure where to begin as this private trek encompassed so many experiences. I won’t spend time writing about the gorgeous mountain views, the local people and villages, the flora + fauna, or – unfortunately, the hundreds of steps. Instead, I will write about the high quality of the menus + equipment, the coordination + planning to run such a trek in the mountains, + the wonderful staff operating the trek.

The tents + camping equipment + sleeping bags + thermarests pads are all the best products. The food and menus and the amazing presentation of the 3-5 course meals were astounding. I watched a dinner being prepared from scratch + it is one of my highlights and it lets you appreciate the lasagna, etc as you are being served. We were constantly pampered with bath water, bottled water, metal/silver plates + silverware, and details like salt + pepper bowls, sugar bowls, jams + jellies. We felt like kings to have kiwi + cream, apple pie, pancakes, lasagne, etc – again – all carried deep into the mountains (I would love to have the pumpkin soup recipe as that was my favorite meal in all of Peru). Again – all the foods, the menu, Hilario, chef #2, were amazing.

Next – Our guide, Franklin, was everything we asked for. His sense of humor, his knowledge of the plants + Inca history, his flexibility – were all perfect. His knowledge of the languages we encountered and his clear and accurate pronouncement of our language was invaluable. Franklin handled our oxygen crisis with leadership and flexibility, while showing us compassion, prayers + care. He demonstrated quick decision-making + efficiency with our amended train + hotel needs. He is a real asset to your firm.

In closing, we had the rare occasion to see Enigma Travel operate in two modes – one: when everything is running smooth as planned and following the itinerary and two: when the customers get sick and all back up plans come into play. Your company + your staff receive five star ratings for both the normal + the crisis situations.

Many, many thanks to all our trek staff for jobs well done.

Silvia – Please feel free to place an edited version of our comments on your fantastic + informative web site.

PS. We fell in love with Carmen, as well as our personal porter. Their laughter + affection for us were appreciated. Carmen is a great driver (very smooth + careful) + so happy. Our porter (Humberto maybe?) cared for our personal belongings with such dedication + responsibility. He was flexible + helpful + should be commended.

Short Inca Trail

“Our guide, Franklin, was excellent. He was courteous, safety-conscious, spoke great English and was on time. He tried to take us on a trail that had been planned for us from the US + was actually too difficult for some of our group of 6 + led us to another trail so we could still hike + have a good time.

Thank you, Franklin and Enigma, for the great service!.”

“Franklin served our group of six women extremely well. He was able to offer options and accommodate our varying degrees of ability. His knowledge of the Machu Picchu area was extensive and his presentation was clear and interesting. He was attentive to our needs and is a very pleasant young man.

He certainly made our experience here a memorable one – Thank you!.”

DeLuxe Inca Trail

“On behalf of my wife and two sons, I write to thank you for the wonderful travel arrangements for our trip to Peru. We thoroughly enjoyed all aspects of our trip, including the excursions in Lima, Cusco, Sacred Valley, and most especially the trek to Machu Picchu.

We also want to commend you three of your personnel: Ernesto Ore Durand, Manuel Velazco Serrano and Carlos (the head chef). Ernesto was our guide upon our arrival in Cusco and for our stay in the Sacred Valley. We found him to be knowledgeable and an all around excellent host. We would recommend him to any future group when making arrangements with you. Second, Carlos was an outstanding chef. I understand that you are well aware of his talents. We simply cannot imagine a better culinary talent to prepare meals in the high Andes for any group of trekkers. Finally, and most importantly, we wish to commend Manuel Velazco Serrano, our head guide for the trek. Manuel is extremely experienced and knowledgeable, and he was wonderfully corteous throughout. As we wrote in our questionnaires at the end of the trip, he not only met and exceeded our expectations, but he often anticipated our needs, always at the ready with anything we might need.

Thank you again for your service to us. We look forward to traveling with you again in the future. We will recommend you wholeheartedly to our family and friends.”

Customized itineraries

"Dearest Silvia -

Our South American adventure - a trip of a lifetime - is sadly coming to an end. We will never think of this trip without fondly remembering you and how you made this all possible. I will be forever grateful that you answered my original e-mail back in 2006. Your patience with all my many lengthy follow-up e-mails was always appreciated and I always noted your quick responses and detailed answers to my questions.

As I said in a 2006 e-mail, I was ready to ask who your supervisor was so I could let them know what a great employee you were. When I found you owned the company, I was more impressed to find a 'hands on' employer, working harder than the staff. We cannot thank you enough.

The high standards and quality of your business are amazing.

In closing, Terry + I saved our money for years to be able to stay at the 'top-of-the-line' hotels in each town, as well as to take the 'private' trek and we know, without a doubt, we were also blessed to have the 'top-of-the-line' travel agency in all of Peru!!

Love, Wanda + Terry”

“Hernan was an excellent guide, I would highly recommend him to my friends. His knowledge, attitude and friendliness was commendable. Sixto was an excellent cook and went to a lot of trouble to feed us well and help keep our energy levels up.

The trek itself was awe inspiring – everyday different and very beautiful. The horsemen were also very helpful.

Thank you to the whole ENIGMA team!”

“Excellent focus on safety and comfort of the whole group. Exceeded expectations and friendliness / hospitality and also the food. Now know that just around the corner sometimes takes an hour!!, but enjoyed every minute of a challenging hike.”
