Llama Pack
recovering the original llama breed
Llama Pack is an organization that aims at encouraging the traditional uses and breeding practices of carrier llamas. They focus on the sustainable development and conservation of mountain communities as well as the ecosystems of the Andean highlands surrounding the Sacred Valley.
During Inca times, purebred llamas were large, strong animals that played an important role as pack animals. Nowadays, due to cross breeding with alpacas, pure bred llamas have almost disappeared.
ENIGMA SUPPORT
Enigma has partnered with Llama Pack in an effort to preserve this iconic species and bring travellers in closer contact with an integral part of Peruvian history and culture. Through the organization of hikes with the Llama Pack animals and staff, we support the funding of this initiative.
