Giving Back: Enigma Peru and the Sol y Luna Intercultural School

For the last four years Enigma Peru has pledged its support to the wonderful Sol y Luna Intercultural School. This organization is helping to make a difference in the lives of underprivileged and disabled children in the Sacred Valley of Peru.

We believe it is vital to give back to the communitiesthat provide such an amazing experience for all of our guests who visit Peru. Providing a strong educational foundation is the key to helping these communities thrive and improve their quality of life. These communities form the backbone of Peru and we take great pride in being able to help.

Sol y Luna’s three main objectives are to offer a high quality education, give access to culture and to promote sports, and support children in their growth and development. They also support children with special needs to provide them with an instructive and creative education that will help them to integrate into the community. This comes in the form of special assistance from a caring and professional team of educators, and Enigma Peru sponsors five of the sixteen children at the Sol y Luna school.

While many visitors come to Peru and enjoy the idyllic scenery and exciting adventures that the country has to offer, it is important to remember that these small Andean communities generally hover around the poverty line. There are not many resources available to provide a good life and education for the children, so organizations like Sol y Luna are imperative in helping these communities stay alive and thrive in this new climate.

The children of Sol y Luna receive specialized care in many different forms, from physical and language therapy to psychology and social care to providing support for the children’s families. The marvelous team of caretakers and professionals provides a loving environment for the students and their families.
