When the kids need a break from the Lima museums, try one of these fun activities!

In Lima, there is an almost a limitless number of activities for adults to engage with the culture of Peru and learn about the country’s fascinating history. However, between the many interesting museums and cultural sites in the city, it may be hard to keep the children engaged on the trip. At Enigma, we understand the challenges of traveling with children, but we also know that having your kids along for the ride can make for an unforgettable family experience.
To make sure everyone has a good time in Peru’s capital, we’d like to introduce you to some of the most kid-friendly activities in Lima that adults will enjoy too!
The Magic Water Circuit

In 2017 El Circuito Mágico del Agua (The Magic Water Circuit) opened in Parque de la Reserva and currently holds the record for the largest fountain complex in the world. In total, there are 13 separate fountains and many of them are interactive. A visit to the Magic Water Circuit is perfect for a hot summer day in Lima because the kids can run through the fountains to cool off. At night, the fountains are illuminated, many with changing color schemes. There is even a colorful laser light program that celebrates Peru’s history and unique culture.
The Choco Museum
If you are traveling with children, they are sure to love a visit to the Choco Museum. This interactive chocolate and cacao museum is free to the public and also offers a number of hands-on chocolate workshops. Even though Peru isn’t known globally for its chocolate, it is one of the most important exporters of cacao. At the chocolate museum, kids and adults can learn about how cacao is grown, harvested and the materials and processes that are necessary to turn it into chocolate. It is also a great opportunity to sample delicious Peruvian chocolates and take home a sweet souvenir.

Bike Tours of Lima
If your kids need to burn off some energy, a bike tour is the perfect afternoon activity. Cycling through Lima is a great way to help your kids stay engaged while still seeing the sights. In Lima, there are many bike paths that run along the malecón, around Miraflores, Barranco, San Isidro and even into Lima Central. At Enigma, we would be happy to organize the perfect bike tour for your family that is tailored to your interests.
Relaxing Day Along the Malecon

There are a lot of things to see in the city, but sometimes you need to take a day off just to relax. Miraflores is like an outdoor museum with plenty of interesting statues and sights along the ocean cliffs. There are many parks and green spaces along the malecón where you can go with your family, pack a picnic lunch and enjoy the calming views of the Pacific Ocean. Show your children the lighthouse or visit Parque del Amor in Miraflores. There is also plenty of space to throw a ball around or simply enjoy time together as a family.
When traveling with children in Lima, we know it is important to have safe and fun activities that the kids can participate in.
