OUR APPROACH
At Enigma we love bringing travellers to Peru, but we also recognize that the environment, culture and communities in which we operate are extremely fragile and sensitive to impact. With the privilege of sharing some of the country’s most untouched beauty comes a deep-held responsibility to be sensitive, respectful and highly conscious. We aim at having a minimal negative impact on the environment, culture and society we operate in, and ideally, a lasting overall positive effect. Rather than just “giving something back”, we believe in “not taking away from” in the first place.
Our will is to inspire a higher level of consciousness amongst all those we interact with: travellers, clients and supply chain, while also getting inspired by industry peers and initiatives worldwide.
In our commitment to communities and the cultural and natural environment that surrounds us, our strategy has been to integrate both responsibility and sustainability as key elements in our corporate philosophy, developing aligned policies, guidelines and action plans that unfold across all areas and with all participants of our organization, and sharing them with our stakeholders.
To ensure this, our R&S strategy has been created with FOUR main points of focus:
ENIGMA SUPPORT
ENIGMA supports a variety of initiatives and projects in different ways:
EXPERIENCES
The design of our journeys may include experiences that back certain causes, suppliers and projects we consider noteworthy.
FUNDRAISING
We directly and indirectly raise funds for the support of our chosen projects.
DONATIONS
ENIGMA directly donates funds for selected projects and causes.
VOLUNTEERING
We are happy to suggest, design and implement journeys in Peru including volunteer participation or assistance in requested projects and causes.
INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION
We promote, recommend and prescribe reliable initiatives, and we search for local projects that support specific causes upon request.
For a project or initiative to receive our support, in whatever form it comes, it must comply with the following premises:
- It has to be aligned with our R&S strategic guidelines and objectives.
- The support we give has to be related to a measurable need.
- We need to personally meet the project leader or owner and have an in-depth knowledge of the scope and operations of the project.
- We need to be able to monitor the allocation and output of funds/support directly and transparently.
